Swallowtail Hill is a 40-acre farm near Rye in East Sussex offering a stylish and comfortable eco-glamping experience in bespoke cabins.
The cabins are sited at the bottom of this hillside field next to a pond. The site has a shared outdoor kitchen area and there you will find a gas cooker for those who prefer to cook more conventionally.
There is a covered dining area shared by both cabins and we provide all the necessary camping crockery, cutlery and useful kitchen tools you need along with a cooler box for your food and drink.
We also provide rechargeable lanterns for your use.
The Meadow Keepers cottage and The Woodcutters Cottage are both one-offs.
We have one other cottage-on-wheels - Woodcutter's Cottage which is located in our wood.
We also have two wooden cabins - Wood and Penfold which share a paddock and are excellent for families holidaying together. We provide a full kit list before guests arrive so you can see what equipment there is and what you might need to bring. Breaks are self-catering - so guests need to bring their own provisions.Situated in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the farm is regarded as a beacon for biodiversity.Hand-built by highly skilled local craftsmen with timber sourced from local woods, they are quirky cottages-on-wheels.Meadow Keepers sits in between our two meadows, and Woodcutters is deep within our wood.Inside they are carefully constructed spaces that can accommodate four people. Facilities include compost loos and outdoor wood-fired showers.
